As a senior strategist at Re Sydney, I regularly help brands make a name for themselves. But in my spare time, I’m building a product that I hope is going to become synonymous with the fight to eradicate ocean plastics.
Rewrite is a sustainable stationery brand that creates products from 100% verified ocean plastics. My co-founder Adam Stacey and I are on a mission to rewrite the story for our planet one pen and one bag of ocean plastic waste at a time.
Thanks to the Side Hustles initiative I was able to get help building out a design system for Rewrite that expresses the message we’re seeking to convey. The visual identity is centred on the idea of a ‘flow state’, and the balance between focus and momentum that this creates.
As Nina Szewczyk, designer on the project explains it. “The flowing, gestural shape speaks to both the visual language of the ocean and the iterative nature of creativity. The system captures the coming together of people, process, product and place in an effort to represent the interconnectedness and flow between humankind and nature.”
I’m passionate about this product and couldn't be happier with how the brand has been brought to life. I can already feel the momentum building. At the recent Good Design Awards in Melbourne we were awarded within the Product Design Housewares and Objects category.
